IEEE 2030.5 / California Rule 21

I am the author of the EPRI IEEE 2030.5 Client open source stack, the stack is currently in use by several manufacturers of SunSpec CSIP certified products. Since the public release of the client stack by EPRI, I have made numerous improvements, bug fixes, added features such as subscription/notification required by aggregator clients, and created a more streamlined API for controlling individual DERs.

In order to assist companies in achieving California Rule 21 compliance I offer the following products and services:

• Critical updates and improvements to the open source stack (2018 schema update, bug fixes, and more …)
• Support for the aggregator and direct DER modes of operation
• Technical support (open source client, IEEE 2030.5, CSIP)

IEEE 2030.5 Server

In the process of developing the IEEE 2030.5 client stack, I developed a server for testing purposes. The server is capable of executing a majority of the SunSpec test cases used in CSIP certification.

Current Features:

• Support for aggregator and direct DER clients
• Linux based command line interface
• Server configuration though scripting
• Event based triggers

Work in Progress:

• Support for IEEE 1547.1 device testing
• Python API
• Native Windows support (Win32 API)

Planned features:

• GUI for server configuration
• Output for SunSpec test results format
• Certification by SunSpec as an Authorised Test Tool
• Certification by Sunspec as 2030.5 CSIP server

I am currently offering the server as a cloud based service, it is available for Sunspec CSIP product testing leading toward certification.

ISO 15118/DIN Spec 70121

I developed a communication stack for electric vechicle (EV) charging using either ISO 15118/DIN Spec 70121. This stack is in the prototype/development stage and is presently unreleased. Notable features include:

• portable communication stack based upon a network abstraction layer
• LWIP/Linux based port to test applications using the LWIP TCP/IP stack under Linux
• OS-less port using LWIP targeting the SPC57 microcontroller
• presently uses OpenV2G for EXI related parsing
